I would recommend you read all of InterLocks literature on installation and cleanup and it there are differences in what is said and what is actually happening on your site - CALL THEM! The plus here is they will fix it and they will do that quickly and with concern for your problems. Once my concerns were brought to InterLock's attention they were addressed in a manor that was professional and I could not have been more appreciative of their response. When it is all said and done we could not be happier with the new roof. It looks great we we are expecting not to have a roofing issues for decades to come. My advice, stay involved with your job's progress and do not be timid in bringing concerns you may have to the attention of The Walpole office.”

“I have a few issues that I want corrected. The crew worked very long hours and tried to get it done as quickly as possible, including after dark. They couldn't see tile damage and gutter debris, due to a nail. I'd rather they worked during the day time. They shouldn't be working after dark, so clean up could be more effective. I noticed a problem with the underlayment in one area. I am not sure that was corrected. One layer was overlapping another. Some of the tiles got bent because of foot traffic, though it's not a huge issue.”

They should provide a port-potty for the crew.”

“They take the nails, and they throw them over their shoulder, and they go into the gutters, bushes, etc. It ended up flattening my tires. I did talk to them about it. It was partially my fault because I haven't kept up with communicating to them because I am busy. They did come back and tried to pick the rest of the nails up. However, when it rained, they came out of the gutters and ended up in my driveway. One time I counted 26 nails came down the drain pipe. The magnet doesn't work for the nails in the gutters. They could have improved their handling of the waste products. I still have to get in touch with them. The people in the office are nice and cooperative. The foreman was good as well.”

They came and got the job done. The installers put stuff from the deck out in the yard, and it killed the grass. That was annoying too, so now I am dealing with reseeding and all of that stuff. We had the dumpster delivered two weeks before the job started, which killed the grass too. Another issue we had was parking their van in our driveway because it leaked oil on our pavers.”

“Our installation manager, Paul McLaughlin, was terrible. Interlock roofing is not the cheapest option for roofing. My wife & I decided to spend considerably more to have it placed because we care about our home and were impressed by the product. When we decided to pay extra for a premium product we expected good if not great customer service. That wasn't the case. We had issues with damage to our hardy board siding during installation where it met the roof (I would be happy to send pictures if needed) Multiple areas of the house siding had fractured. When I called to discuss the siding Paul was nonresponsive, dismissive of the issue, rude to my wife and refused to look at the property or even listen to our concerns. He accused me of not wanting to pay my bill even though we paid in cash & on time. Interestingly, he had no problem coming to the house unannounced when I wasn't home to take pictures of the roof which gave me the impression he was more interested in advancing his own interests then listening & working with his customers. For this reason and this reason alone I would not and have not recommended friends to work with the company. Let Paul McLaughlin and get someone who will represent your company well. Mistakes and damages happen in the course of a project. Telling your customers you don't have time for them isn't going to help you build customer referrals or gain market share. I'd like a response or someone in management to contact me to discuss my experience. Please recognize the local roofing contractor. He really knows what he is doing.”

He seemed to have come to the appointment with the impression that we were going to sign right away, and seemed angry when we told him we were going to have 3 quotes no matter what.3.) He showed us all his contracts and said that if he had to come back, he'd be losing a slot that another prospective customer could take.4.) He took pictures of our property (that didn't have anything to do with our roof) and surrounding properties, which felt weird. One of the pictures was obviously through the bushes.5.) His presentation wasn't polished. He showed us pictures of papers from what appeared to be a training or flier instead of having put together something in a PowerPoint.6.) When we asked questions regarding holding the proper licensing to pull permits and the proper insurance, he acted as if that went without saying. It made us feel as if our question was a stupid one.7.) He spent a lot of time telling us about why we didn't want an asphalt roof when we stated explicitly that we weren't interested in an asphalt roof. It's as if he wasn't really listening to us.8.) He told us he doesn't like evening appointments (which ours was) because families with small children (which we are) tend to be too sidetracked by their children to have a good discussion.9.) He spent an inordinate amount of time browsing through his pictures instead of having a few quality pictures to show from the beginning.10.) He showed us a price, which he then knocked down continuously throughout the time he was there. Finally saying that if Classic (another company that we were getting a quote from) provided us with a lower quote, to call him and he'd see what he could do about dropping the price more. Seriously, we know his job is to make his company money, but this just felt slimy.”

Financing was attractive but in the long run with finance charges the roof would end up costing me quite a bit more. I was also told by the representative that I could get a discount on my homeowner insurance which was not true. My insurance company had no knowledge of such a discount. He should consider excluding that from his presentation or rephrase the statement. All in all, I would refer Interlock Roofing to my family and friends. I think it was unprofessional to have to change crews after the homeowner has met with them and discussed start time and materials was delivered. The customer need to be able to communicate with the members of the crew.”

“I was not able to communicate with the installation crew. Also, I would have liked some extra materials for future problems. The biggest issue with Interlock Roofing is communication. I had to get a friend of mine who speaks Spanish to come over and communicate with the crew. My father was in the construction business forever. Some of the quality of work isn't the greatest. I would rate some of the work as a 2 on a scale of 0 to 4.”

“I did not like the high pressure sales pitch. Starting out at an inflated price and reducing it down substantially in a span of 5 minutes ( "Sign now, today only") . My reaction was: am I buying an used car here? Reality is, that a typical family cannot commit to laying out $24K on an impulse. Coming up with that kind of cash would require some budgeting, perhaps a refinance, or home equity loan. I feel that metal roofing in general is priced on "what the market will bear", the high price not justified by the material and install cost . your current pricing model limits your market to the wealthy, who have this kind of cash laying around.”

“I would have selected Interlock if it was actually 2 to 3 times the cost of an asphalt roof. From my perspective, the labor cost must be out of line for our region. The quote for a slate roof was less than Interlock in our area.”

This whole job was very well organized, i.e., delivery of container followed by materials and installation. The crew was very hard working and friendly. “Communication was poor and I was lied to on who would be coming the first day. The installer was knowledgeable and did a good job yet never committed as to when he'd be returning and never let me know before leaving each day. This was my second installation of interlock roofing. The first install was much better overall. I'm still picking up nails and metal shards from my yard and crushed stone driveway. The first day when my old roof was removed, an ornimental tree way broke in half and the installer knew yet never told me he was responsible for it which is very unprofessional for the amount of money I've spent. I was told to submit 3 estimates which is a lot to ask for their error. I choose not to prospective this because the damage was done the first day when the wrong person was sent even though I said I'd wait for the one I requested and didn't feel he should've been liable.”

“Placement of materials: On the contract sheet, it stated materials would be located on the driveway but I was told or led to understand by the salesman just prior to signing that they would be placed on a palate on my lawn to the right or left of my driveway. They were instead placed right in front of my garage doors so I had no ingress/egress through my garage for eleven days. One thing verbally intimated while another written down, and of course the written instruction prevailed. Should have been clearer about this, especially with a small driveway.Also I could have used a reminder to run an electrical cord out the window in the phone call I got the day before the first day of installation. I'm preoccupied (like everybody else) and that would have helped.”

“I would recommend the company, but I would have questions with the installation crew. Anyone from Interlock Roofing can call me at any time, and I will tell them the same thing. I am getting upset about how long it is taking to fix the damage they did. I hope someone higher up in the chain will read this survey so that I can get my issues resolved. “Communication. When my job got started and then stalled, nearly a week went by with no contact from the contractor on the job or the office..... The girls in the office either had no idea that no work was getting done on my job, or they were misinformed - I was promised call backs that never happened.bottom line, communication - I want to know what is going on with my project and who is going to be at my property and when. I am still missing photos of the IB portion of my roof that the last crew took on the final day. I have asked for them at least twice via email - and haven't gotten them yet, its been nearly a month.”

“Communication. The sales person, who originally came out to sell the product was never seen again. Good customer service would have him come back, collect the last check, once we were able to review the roof and our potential concerns, if any, and receive feed back on the quality of workmanship that he is promoting and selling.”

“It has been a year since I had my Interlock roof installed and I have meant to write this letter. I am glad I waited because I discovered additional advantages to the roof system by Interlock. I initially was impressed by the planning. Mr. Baldassari explained the roof, brought samples, how it would be installed on my house and interface with existing gutters. He also provided local addresses of Interlock roofs that I could view which was very helpful. During the planning process, he recommended changes I may not have thought of but would eliminate future costs and problems.”

“I thought the guy was very good, took the time and explained everything, but it's just that the price is high.”

“After they dropped of the materials they did not show up for two days. It would have been nice to have known what was going on. We were told they would come at 9 AM the next day, but they did not show up. They should have told us that they were not coming. That was the only problem that I had.”

“A little more advanced noticed on when materials was arriving. I got two days notice. This is the second roof with them. We were happy the first time and this time. If we had to get a third roof we would definitely use them again.”

“The only issue I ran into I was that I wanted the snow guards above the door. We had a snowstorm during the roof installation and I realized it was causing more of a hazard than help. I asked them to remove it and they only did the back of the house and it took too long so I changed my mind. I did not realize how much it involved to take it off. They did not charge me for it and I am happy with that. Maybe I could've educated myself about it before because it caused the back up.”

“The original estimate was based on assumptions made by the contractor. I am still waiting on the final invoice.”

“I feel they could have improved on the clean up. I found nails and debris in my gutter and I had to take them apart and clean them.”

“We were not happy with the financial plan. We felt that it was not adequately planned. We agreed to a plan that was to expensive and long for our age. It was going to take 20 years. I think the language barrier from the crew needs to be better. They need to make sure the crew speaks English.”

“Having a crew person who speaks English fluently would have been very helpful. Now that the roof is completed, it would be nice to discuss further details with someone who is knowledgeable about the product (and speaks fluent English) because some of the issues that I presented at the time of sale could have been avoided. As it stands, we have a quality roof with minor imperfections that could have been avoided. This past week we have had a lot of rain and did some further inspection in the attic to verify no leaks (there were none), but we saw some concerns of the way the ridge caps were nailed, i.e., it appears that some were nailed only through the roofing paper and not necessarily through the plywood.”

“They don't have many workers and the material is pretty heavy. It's a pretty hard job.”

“The only thing that we would have preferred is that we got a copy of the quote and information, even though we did not think we would be doing the roof at this time. We had the rep come because we wanted more information as we are interested in the somewhat near future having this done, but did not know this would make us lose a discount if we chose not to do it _right now_.”

“The staff who came to do the work were not very communicative. The only discussion was if I asked any questions and the answers were very short and non-detailed. This may be due to English not being a first language, or just not normally working with the customers. The sign supplied could be made to handle wind better. Each wind storm (even small ones) that blows through flattens the sign. The frame remains standing, but the sign falls out of the brackets. Thankfully the kids next door seem to like fixing it for us.”

“Making sure from the beginning that it is clean. We have children that run around, and we were concerned about that. Once we told them about that, they had someone out here cleaning it. They did not put snow guards on part of our roof that should of had them. They did come out and put extra on there. That should of been part of the initial survey of the house.”

“Timeliness of the install job would be the primary concern. In September I was told the install would be completed before winter began (early to mid-December) and instead the roof was not started until March.”

“The estimated projected start time was not met. However, we were informed about it several weeks in advance. When the project was finally started, we were called the morning of to say they would be to our location in a few hours. I would have preferred more notice. However, the workmanship, and quality of the installation was wonderful. The site was constantly kept clean during the entire installation. They performed with the utmost care on our property.”

“To answer #13 fairly. I received a call Friday am @ work, asking if they could schedule a dumpster delivery & possibly start work. When I came home that evening 1/2 to 3/4 of the roof was completed. My wife had received a message too from the install crew (broken english-hard to understand). Unfortunately, we did not have time to prepare our dogs, who were inside going nuts all day! Very quick, super happy about that. It just came as a surprise if not abrupt. But, the bottom line it was done quickly & a lovely product. I wish the work crew spoke better English, there work was great, however, I did have to mention that some trash had blown into the woods (windy conditions)& that I had picked up nails in the driveway on the Saturday morning. Sharp looking roof!”

“Informed it would be 6-8 weeks delivery. A total of 6 month wait time. This was the 1st winter we had no snow in January. The arrival of supplies was day of blizzard in Feb. They worked very diligently and hard because they had to shovel roof off during 2 snow storms. I felt very sorry for this awful inconvenience to them working in such awful weather. They were great workers and very prof. A wait time of 6 months was our only complaint.”

“Overall, everything was good.”

“During installation there are a lot of small metal shards littering the yard. They were in the bushes, flowers, on our deck, and in the grass. I even found some on the driveway and could of easily punctured a tire. The only time they were cleaned up was at the end instead of every day. We have dogs and they were at rick of cutting their paws during the entire installation. They should have covered bushes and should have tried harder to ensure a safer environment during installation.”

“Prior to the snowstorm this past Sunday/Monday, we were recommending the product to everyone. Not to belabor the point, but the ice build-up after the storm was disconcerting to us. Until we are convinced that this is not an issue, we are going to have to temper our enthusiasm for the product. We were pleased with the overall process. The installation went well. The product looks great. We are a little concerned about the ice build up we noticed this week. We have never experienced this before, so we are concerned. One of the major selling points for us was that the snow would slide off the roof thereby eliminating concerns about ice dams, snow build up etc. It is something we will need to keep an eye on.”

“Jennifer was great but was confused at times in terms of the material being delivered to my house prior to the start of the job. Also, the initial estimate for the installation was late December, but the actual installation happened in late February/early March. If it weren't for a similar installation in my neighborhood, I probably would not have proceeded with the installation. But because I was able to see the results on another home, we decided to proceed with the installation.”

“Office communication with customer when behind schedule .”

“When I was being sold on the idea, they give me one price. They were able to drop $6,000 off the price in one day. I was not comfortable with the idea that I could go from $30,0000 to $24,000 if I signed today. I would think most people would have to sleep on it.”

“Have been very satisfied with all aspects of the job,from our initial appointment to the finished job. The roof looks great! And when we had a problem after finished (leaking during a rain storm) the response was exceptional. There was someone here to take care of the problem the very day we called. “The one area that I believe they should become more knowledgable in is when a person has a dish on their home that you can always take the dish off but they can never put a dish back on a metal roof. I knew they were taking it off but they shouldn't have put it back on. That is when it caused some damage because they do not know anything about installing dishes on a metal roof. We have had people stop in front of our house to view their sign. It is getting recognition that is for sure.”

“They could've improved on customer service communication on delays. There was a delivery problem with the dumpster and there seemed to be miscommunication within Interlock, the company and myself of when and if it arrived. It arrived two days after the job started.”

“The sales experience was very professional. Jeff has a super personality and he did everything he was supposed to do. I told him that I didn't like the sales technique that if you sign up tonight you get a different price. I really hate that sales tactic. He said he was obligated by his employer to offer that to him. The cost was prohibitive so I'm not going with a metal roof.”
